Take-Out: La leone

When it comes to rainy season in Taipei, nothing beats a decent take-out dinner from La leone. Not only the rain has stopped me from eating out, it's also been frustrating that the sandwiches at local breakfast booths these days taste extra soggy. Back to the point, I had an amazing dinner tonight, and will finish this post I enter food coma.

Apple pizza, seafood risotto w/ tomato sauce, clam spaghetti
w/ white wine sauce


I would highly recommend the apple pizza: thin-crust, very crispy, and topped with lots of slices of fresh apples. Apple pizza gives off a light and refreshing taste; definitely a healthier dinner option comparing to sausage or pepperoni.

I found an online recipe for a similar version of apple pizza, enjoy!

Ingredients:
  • 1 12-ounce can refrigerated ready-made pizza dough
  • 3 large apples, sliced thin
  • 1 cup apple juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1 cup white cheddar cheese

Preparation:

1. Pre-heat oven to 425 degrees. 2. Lightly coat a 14-inch pizza pan with cooking spray. Press dough into pizza pan.
3. Cook apples in apple juice until tender. Drain off juice and reserve.
4. Place apple slices on dough.
5. Dissolve cornstarch in apple juice, cinnamon, and honey. Cook over medium heat until clear. Spread sauce over apples.
6. Sprinkle pecans on top. Top with cheese.
7. Bake in a 425 degree oven for 15-20 minutes.
8. Makes 8 slices of apple pizza.
